Self-guided tours!

We are excited to announce that Smith’s Nursery is now offering self-guided tours here on our farm! Born from our response to the COVID-19 concerns, these self-guided tours are designed to provide a fun, educational, and safe farm experience for students and families or a simpler option for those that are unable to fill the minimum required option for the guided field trip. The self-guided tour is geared towards children ages 4-8. There is no minimum or maximum group size required for this option.

Walk around our farm and meet the animals, learn how we grow and take care of our crops, feed catfish at the catfish pond, discover local plant and wildlife, see what’s buzzing with our beehives, and more!

We have prepared online learning packets and an audio guide to help you explore our farm at your own pace. Tour stations include:

• Irrigation pond

• Chicken coop

• Catfish pond

• Stream

• Animals

• Beehive

Seasonal add-on options are available for self-guided field trips. We have strawberry picking in the spring, blueberry picking in the summer, and pumpkins in the fall.

For pricing information please call our office at 919-934-1719. This tour does not require an appointment and is available during business hours. We have all of the necessary supplies at our counter in our retail garden center, which will be handed out when purchasing a ticket for the self-guided tour.
