Beginners and Intermediate Barn Quilt Painting Workshop, Saturday, October 7th, 9am to 4 pm

Come join our next beginner and intermediate class and learn how to make your very own 24’’ by 24’’ painted star barn quilt!

Painted barn quilts add a warm personal touch to your barnyard, garage, shed, porch, or deck! This class will demonstrate how to make a star barn quilt, fully customizable by YOU! We will have plenty of colors to choose from to make your design all your own.

Date: Saturday, October 7th, 2023

Time: 9 am to 4 pm. A lunch break will be provided. Please bring your own lunch. Snacks and ice cream treats will be available for purchase at the farm.

Location: Smith’s Nursery, 443 Sanders Rd. Benson, NC

Ages: This workshop is appropriate for ages 16 and up. (Minors must be accompanied by an adult for the entirety of the workshop.)

  • This workshop will meet rain or shine.

  • This workshop will be held in our big barn which has no AC. Dress appropriately for the weather.

  • Snacks and drinks are welcome.

  • Aprons are not provided. You may bring your own if you wish. Or come prepared to get paint on your clothes.

  • Class starts promptly, so be sure to arrive on time.

  • Must bring a hair dryer to speed up the drying process.

  • Tickets are non-refundable.

  • Only those who have pre-registered may participate.

During this workshop, you will create a 24 x 24-inch star barn quilt. The surface will be primed and weather-coated. All class materials needed to make the barn quilt, as well as thorough step-by-step instructions, and light refreshments are included in the price. Lunch is not included. Snacks and ice cream will be on sale at the farm for you to purchase if desired. For drying your board between paints, please bring a hair dryer.

Meet your instructor: Susie Langdon of Meadow, North Carolina will be instructing this wonderful workshop! She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and has been honing this craft for over 13 years. She took a class many years ago and fell in love! She is inspired by trips to the mountains of North Carolina and has even garnered an interest in quilting as well. She is beyond excited and can’t wait to meet you and teach you this fantastic craft!
